5.1. Introduction
We start this chapter with a brief explanation of each of these bullet points and then proceed to a more thorough treatment that makes up the bulk of this chapter. By the time you have worked through this chapter, you should have a good “30,000 feet” overview of Python.
Obviously, full coverage of Python would take a lot more than the one chapter we are affording it here. I have omitted details that are not directly relevant to XML processing. Also, some difficult-to-classsify but important details have been relegated to chapter 6. I have also purposely left out some features that I know will crop up later on in the text, where they will be explained “on-the-fly.”
