Age Differences

The new employee who is young, capable, and ambitious is faced with a peculiar challenge in most organizations. And it doesn’t take long for the challenge to occur. You hear it expressed in many ways:

“I could have had that last promotion if I had had more seniority.”

“Everyone in this company has age, seniority, or experience beyond mine. I’ll never get a chance. I’m wasting my time and ability. I won’t get a chance to show what I can do until I’m thirty.”
