Because rumors occur in all organizations, it is only natural to find them in business and industrial concerns. It follows that there may be a rumor mill in your organization. If there is, be forewarned. Accepting rumors as the truth can cause you to make serious human-relations mistakes. You might, for example, damage a good horizontal or vertical relationship you have built; or you might permit false information to get in the way of building a relationship that would contribute to higher productivity and, perhaps, enhance your own progress.
