Juggling Five Things at Once

It’s 11:00 a.m. Emily is walking to a meeting with her senior executives. It’s her first meeting with this group, so she gets directions to the meeting room from the assistant at the elevator. On the way down a long hall, her cell phone rings. It’s one of the unsuccessful applicants for the job Emily is hiring for today. While trying to let him down nicely, Emily realizes she’s lost. She doesn’t have a mental map for how the rooms are laid out. She finishes the call, finds her bearings, and gets to the meeting five minutes late, annoyed with herself.
