The portability that makes notebook PCs so attractive to individuals and businesses also makes them attractive to criminals. Because of their small size and high value, notebooks have become a prime target for thieves around the world.
Even with retail prices dropping, a notebook PC still represents a decent haul for an enterprising thief. A purloined notebook can be fenced or pawned for about half of its market value—not a bad return for quick snatch.
