The Head and the Face
You would think the human face would be easy to sculpt because we have looked at it our entire life. But we haven’t looked at it from a trained sculptor’s viewpoint. Instead, we have looked for clues to people’s emotions, their motivations, and their personality. Is this girl really into me? How is dad taking the news that I’m failing PE class?
We have looked to understand expressions, but not structure. As sculptors, we must understand the form in three dimensions to be able to create something realistic.
