It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

10.1 Home Automation Profile
The ZigBee Alliance developed the home automation (HA) profile, which defines a set of standards for the home automation network. Manufacturers of HA devices use these standards for interoperability between devices. The HA network is used for controlling lights, blinds, thermostats, home theater devices, occupancy detection, motion sensors, security systems, and door and window sensors in real time. The ZigBee HA profile defines the following specifications for home automation:
