How to develop habits and processes for regular systems maintenance

In this course, you will build on fundamentals of Service Level Objectives (SLOs) to develop error budgets and maintenance windows, and learn how to apply them and when to use them. The concept of maintenance windows provides a way to think about scheduled downtime in the context of your SLOs. You will learn how to calculate your service’s error budget, how to choose maintenance windows, and what to do during these windows.

What you’ll learn and how you can apply it

By the end of this live, hands-on, online course, you’ll understand:

  • How to set and revise Service Level Objectives (SLOs)
  • How to distinguish between error budgets and maintenance windows
  • How to reliably identify when to use maintenance windows
  • How to develop SLOs that account for maintenance windows

And you’ll be able to:

  • Develop Service Level Objectives for your team and organization
  • Implement Maintenance Windows without affecting customers or jeopardizing SLOs
