Get Ready to Crush the CKAD Exam!

  • In-depth training on topics that matter for the exam
  • A focus on managing, using, and troubleshooting so you can gain real-world developer container skills
  • Dedicated labs to show you how to build your own lab and practice from anywhere

Instead of creating applications that run on different platforms, you can now develop applications as containers that are hosted by a Kubernetes layer. To do this you need the knowledge and skills to work in the Kubernetes platform. The Certified Kubernetes Application Developer exam was created by Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF) to test these skills for anyone who wants to get started with Kubernetes. It ensures the candidate is qualified to run workloads in Kubernetes orchestrated containers. This course prepares you for the Developer (CKAD) exam, which is the standard Kubernetes certification for developers.

In this course you'll learn everything you need to know to run applications on Kubernetes. Notice that no programming experience is required: the course focusses on that the core knowledge and skills needed to run applications in Kubernetes.

In this training participants will learn about essential skills that are required to pass the CKAD exam. You will also get real-world training from demos and hands-on labs that you trainer has prepared for this class.

Notice that this course is NOT an entry-level course on Kubernetes. Participants are expected to already know about Kubernetes fundamentals. See the Recommended Prep section for details on how to gain this knowledge.

What you’ll learn and how you can apply it

  • Installing a Kubernetes Lab Environment
  • Building Custom Container Images
  • Managing Pod Features
  • Managing Applications, using Deployments DaemonSets and StatefulSets
  • Managing Application Access using Services, Ingress and NetworkPolicy
  • Managing Persistent Storage
  • Decoupling site-specific information using ConfigMaps and Secrets
  • Managing Basic Application Security
  • Using DevOps Strategies like Canary Deployments
  • Troubleshooting Kubernetes Applications

This live event is for you because...

  • This Training provides candidates with skills required to run applications in Kubernetes
  • This training allows candidates to get familiar with all topics that are required to pass the CKAD exam

Prerequisites

  • This course is not for beginners. You should already know core Kubernetes skills before attending.

Course Set-up

To work through the labs in this course, you will need to install and configure your own lab environment. Different lab installation options are possible, but it is recommended to use Minikube, on a virtual machine that runs the latest version of Ubuntu LTS desktop. Students that want to prepare the Minikube based lab setup before start of the course can follow the instructions that are provided in the "Setup Guide" in the course GitHub repository.
