I've been involved in the software industry for over 25 years, holding various technical and management positions. Over my time in the industry, much has changed, but one constant is the need for those in the business to grow their skills and keep up with ever-changing technologies and paradigms. To that end, I've always made time to learn and develop both technical and leadership skills and share them with others while holding various software development and managerial roles. These days, I'm a senior manager in a large R&D organization. But I also regularly do corporate training for my company in open-source technologies, and outside of the corporate world, I present workshops on topics related to areas such as Git, Gradle, Jenkins, and Gerrit. I've done training on these around the US and internationally as well as writing about them. But regardless of where I'm training and the topic or technology, there's no substitute for the excitement and sense of potential that come from providing others with the knowledge they need to help them accomplish their goals. In my spare time, I hang out with my wife Anne-Marie, 4 children and a small dog in Cary, North Carolina and volunteer in local Cub Scout and Boy Scout organizations.
