Bio

Robert Denny invented the Windows-CGI to bring the power of CGI programming to the Windows environment. As part of WebSite(TM) (also developed by Robert in conjunction with O'Reilly Media, Inc.), Win-CGI fills the need to tap into Windows applications for the creation of dynamic web pages. Other Windows web servers have followed this lead and added Win-CGI support, including Microsoft IIS and Netscape servers. Robert devotes his time to Windows web applications, including continued development of WebSite and WebSite Professional, as well as improving Win-CGI. Robert holds a B.S. in electrical engineering (with math emphasis) from the University of Arizona, where he was first exposed to programming in the early '70s. As a result of his deep interest in the Web, Robert Denny recently "retired" after 11 years as founder and chief executive officer of Alisa Systems, Inc. Robert Denny has become very active in the Web community, which he feels is a very exciting place to be. In September 1994, he met Dale Dougherty of O'Reilly Media, Inc.. They hit it off very well and the idea for WebSite, a Windows web server based upon Robert Denny's Windows HTTPD, was born. Robert now devotes his working efforts to the development of WebSite and related products, and lends his management experience to the team. Robert's two serious interests are flying and computers.
