Chris Dawson was born in 1973 in rainy Portland, Oregon. The first son of two teachers, he won his first writing prize for an essay about how power corrupts when he was 12. He attended University of Washington and has a double degree in Japanese and Computer Science. Chris still lives in a changing Portland with his wife and two children.
