JavaScript code missing from Tip box On page 29, the third sentence in the Tip box under Step 7 is missing JavaScript code. Change: "Change the Web address to http://www.microsoft.com/sharepoint and click OK." To: "Change the Web address to javascript:void window.open('http://www.microsoft.com/sharepoint') and click OK."

Tip box at the top of the page

I entered only "#" in the Web address box (and provided a description). When I reviewed the description in the Quick Launch after I submitted this change (by clicking OK), the new header appeared, but it was a link. When I clicked it, my browser refreshed with the (subsite) home page. Surrounding text led me to believe I would get a heading that was not a link.

Note from the Author or Editor:
The heading will always be a link, and you have to specify some text in the Type The Web Address text box. A workaround for this restriction is to type a # charater in the Type The Web Address text box. When clicked this will cause the page to refresh. Unfortunately the text in the book did not make this clear.

Steps 14 and 18

It seems to me that the screen shot included in Step 14 is irrelevant, and really belongs on Step 18.

Note from the Author or Editor:
The image below Step 14 is a repetition of the image below Step 6. It looks like during the layout process that the image that should have been below step 14 was inadvertently and incorrectly replace with the image below step 6.

References to restoring deleted sites should be removed On page 73, the Tip is incorrect and should be removed. The text that should be removed reads: "You can restore a site from a Recycle Bin up to 30 days, by default, after it has been deleted." On page 75, the last bullet point is incorrect and should be removed. The text that should be removed reads: "Deleting a site sends it to the Recycle Bin in Windows SharePoint Services, from where it can be restored."

Next to Tip

I see that having the Close icon to the left of the tip on page 404 is beneficial because the Tip text refers to "Close button" yet the screen shot only depicts the X. Having the icon in the margin helps the reader understand that X means Close. (When I saw it there, though, I felt confused and had to re-read the Tip to see if I missed a major point about Close. My mind was associating the margin icon with an action I "ought" to be taking.) I suggest adding the icon to the left of the Tip on page 406. (One way to address the Tip on page 404 would be to say: ...down arrow on their title bar and a Close (X) button.)

Note from the Author or Editor:
A nice suggestion.

end of big paragraph

As written, the last sentence reads "Windows SharePoint Services provides built-in Web Parts for each Web site created Two types of Web Parts are most commonly use via the browser." I believe this should be two sentences, and, a letter "d" is missing after 'use'. So I think it ought to read "Windows SharePoint Services provides built-in Web Parts for each Web site created. Two types of Web Parts are most commonly used via the browser."

'Be sure to' section

This section states that you can "create a practice site for this chapter based on the Chapter 15 Starter.stp site template located in the Documents\Microsoft Press\SBS_WSSv3\Chapter 15 folder" No such file exists on the CD or the downloaded version of the disk contents. There is only the solution file for the chapter - Chapter15_Solution.stp

Step 5

It states "Scroll down the page and hover over the icon to the left of Content Editor Web Part so that the mouse pointer changes to a four-way arrow." Replace sentence with "Scroll down the page and hover over the title bar area of the Content Editor Web Part so that the mouse pointer changes to a four-way arrow."

Steps 3 and 4

There is a discrepancy between the name of the web part (given in Step 3) and the name in the web part's title bar (shown after Step 4). Step 3 refers to "Sale - Office Furniture..." and the screen shot depicts "Sales - Office Furniture...".

Note from the Author or Editor:
The screen shoot should be retaken so that the Web Part title is Sale- Office Furniture...
