Device pixel ratio is given as "[device independent pixels] divided by [physical pixels]"
It should be the other way around: physical pixels / device independent pixels. In the example it is stated that a specific device has 1024 physical pixels and 2048 device independent pixels. This should be 2048 physical pixels and 1024 device independent pixels giving a ratio of 2.
Device independent pixels, dips, is an abstraction layer used by browsers in order to display a web page across different devices in a consistent way. That link leads to an article stating:
"devicePixelRatio is the ratio between physical pixels and device-independent pixels (dips) on the device. devicePixelRatio = physical pixels / dips"
