3rd paragraph (Last Word)

The author writes that he has described "ways to reover from a bungled Setup, and what to do when Windows Server 2008 just won't boot.".
I couldn't find those subjects covered in the first chapter.

Author says Windows Search Service will be covered in detail in Chapter 13, but Chapter 13 is about PowerShell and according to the index the Windows Search Service is only discussed on pages 39,40, and 42.

The tip.

A client will cache a Resource Record provided by the DNS server for the length of time that is specified in the RR's TTL. The maximum time a client will cache a record is 24 hours. The value mentioned(and the registry key) specify the highest value for the cache.
e.g. If the TTL is 48 hours the client will only cache it for 24,yet if the TTL is lower then 24 hours, say 12, the client will cache the RR for only 12.

3rd paragraph brggining with: Check "Enable...

Simply checking Enable Round Robin will not enable round robin since Netmask ordering (which is also enabled by default)takes precedence. When both are enabled, round robin will be in affect if inside the netmask ordering there will be several RRs that can be used.

In addition to that it also might be beneficial to specify that DNS clients (drom Win2K) have a local mechanism that also uses Netmask Ordering before Round Robin.

4th paragraph (Expires After)

The "Expires After" value defines the length of time after which the server will stop answering queries about a replicated zone if it can't rpelicate from the primary server. Nevertheless, the secondary server will attempt to contact the primary at intervals speciied under the 'Retry Interval' value.

The sentence "It dicatets how long a secondary nameserver will continue attempting a zone transfer from its primary server" in my opinion is wrong.

Picture

The picture (figure 4-11) is incorrect. The picture depicts an Active Directory integrated Zone and not a secondary server.

Before last (Object)

An object is not necessarily a physical. An object is the portrayal of every entity found in AD, both logical (OU,Domain) and physical (User, computer,Printer).

4th paragraph (trusts)

Trusts do not allow users from one domain to authenticate using a domain controller from a different domain. Trusts, allow a domain controller to "trust" an access token provided by a different domain controller from a different domain.

3rd pargraph

OUs are designated as containers...This is somewhat confusing. AD has two types of conatiner objects: OUs and Containers. The difference between the two is that OUs can have GPOs linked to them while Containers can't. The distinction,in my opinion, is important.

1st pargraph

It would be also beneficial to specify that at least one GC must exist for the logon process to complete and that the data sunset held by a GC is read-only.

Second paragraph

To set a GPO to not override a parent GPO settings, you need to set the no override option on the parnet GPO (the one further away from the affected object).

Setting the no override on the closer GPO will not gain anything.
