Entire description of iPhoto file scheme - "Where iPhoto Keeps Your Files"

Starting with iPhoto 6, the storage scheme was changed from year/month/day to
year/roll number within the original and modified folders. The whole description of
this is incorrecct in the current book.

5th Paragraph, point two

In several other places in the book ( p. 2 "External Folder management, but
especially p. 85, paragraphs 4 and 5 ), iPhoto 6 is praised for its new ability to
handle images already on a hard drive _without_ duplicating them and the disk space
they use. However, on page 94, paragraph 5, bullet point 2, the book states just the
opposite. Perhaps these paragraphs are from an earlier edition of the book? Or maybe
I just don't understand what I'm reading.

1st paragraph

The text and also illustration 14-5 alludes that you can drag the disk image up onto the library icon and thus start the importation process. This simply does not work and makes it very difficult to follow Davids argument of how to merger the two libraries.

Under Heading "Managing Photo Libraries"

The summary of the backup to CD/DVD process here is completely misleading as it
pertains to large libraries.

As I understand the process described in this section, by selecting the photos from
the library window, you are only creating a backup of the individual photos in the
library and not a backup up of any of the albums or slideshows. This is alluded to
in the text, but the text fails to mention that to create a full copy of your
library, it seems necessary to copy all of the individual pictures AND all of the
albums separately to maintain the structure. The process of copying the albums also
copies each picture in the album. This will take almost 2x the space of the original
library to put it all on DVD's and may present problems with duplicates as the
library is remerged together.

Since this is touted on the page before as the "quickest and most convenient way to
back up your Photo Library," it is neglectful to not mention that this takes up 2x
the space and not mention 2x the time.

Also, there doesn't see to be a way to back up a photo book that is larger than an
entire DVD as the interface doesn't seem to readily support burning photobooks and
there is no way to divide it into smaller chunks.

I see that the topic of backing up photobooks is not mentioned.

This backup process seems to be incomplete and partially redundant.

Method 2: Share the Library with Yourself

I believe this description is out-of-date. The version of IPhoto File Manager which
supports file merging is not free. And the directions are very different from the
directions in the applications help menu. We could not get it to work and went to the
web site for File Manager which definitely states that the free demo does not support
file merging.
