It's not clear from the printed descriptions of FindPriorRanges and MakeRange how the parameters are communicated. For instance, num_stderrs is not passed to MakeRange or indeed used at all in the definition of FindPriorRanges that is printed in the book.

Upon inspecting the source code on GitHub, it became clear that MakRange forms a closure over the parameters num_points and num_stderrs.

It would be good to make this more clear in the text.
