I think CockroachDB IS NOT MySQL-compatible, it is PostgreSQL-compatible.

Thank you for the correction. You are correct: CockroachDB is wire-compatible with PostgreSQL, not MySQL. When I revise the book, I'll strike "that are MySQL-compatible" because my intention in that section was to point out NewSQL broadly (not just MySQL-compatible NewSQL solutions), which is why CockroachDB is mentioned, and it prefigures the last section of the chapter: "Don't Use MySQL."
