Errata to “May 2019 Update” - Appendices
This entry is rather late in the day, but should be of use. They are more than just typos, more like proof readings errors. There are a number of mismatches between the PDF Appendices in the Chapters list on the webpage, and their numbering on the CD. I have found some related indexing omissions as well – probably not all.
The list that is given on the webpage for the Chapters is also incomplete, as far as I can see without reading every page for a cross-reference.
1. “Internet Explorer” is briefly mentioned in Ch. 7, page 272 (not indexed), Ch.8, page348 (separately indexed) and Ch.9, page 365 (indexed again with page 348). The Contents list has it in Ch’s 7 and 9 - the zip folder just as Appendix 7.
2. “Profiles” is listed under Ch. 18 (briefly mentioned on page 562, but not indexed) - the zip folder has it as Appendix 7 (should be 18).
3. “Remote Assistance” is not mentioned in the Chapters list, but is indexed to the Tip on page 458 of Ch. 12, and to the CD - in the zip folder it is named as Appendix 7¸not 12.
4. “Snipping Tool” is not mentioned in the Chapters list, but is indexed to Ch. 8, page 352, and correctly in the zip folder as Appendix 8.
5. “Speech Recognition” is incorrectly given as Appendix 8, not 7, in the zip folder.
6. “Remote Desktop” appears briefly in Ch. 7, page 247 in the book, but is not indexed in it or listed as being on the CD. It is covered, however, in Ch. 12, pp 457/458, but again not indexed in the book or listed as being on the CD. In the zip folder it is only named as Appendix 12, not as Appendix 7 as well.
7. “Task Scheduler” should also be named as Appendix 8 in the zip folder.
8. “NFTS Permissions” – the zip folder entry should be Appendix 18, not 17.
9. “Narrator” should be named in the zip folder as Appendix 8.
