Figure 3-1

Chapter 1 correctly notes that analysis cannot be conducted on the sum of the unique identifier (ID column) but they can be counted:

Page 12: 'We cannot quantitatively compare ID numbers, but we can count their frequencies. To do this on Windows, click “Sum of id” in the Values area and select Value Field Settings. Under “Summarize value field by,” select “Count.” Click OK.'

Figure 1-7 correctly shows Count of id in the Values quadrant of the Field List panel.

Page 19: 'Remember that the id field is a unique identifier, so we really shouldn’t sum this in the PivotTable, despite what it thinks.'

Chapter 3 violates this and sums the ID column. The ch-3 workbook in the downloadable exercise solutions files sums the unique identifier column on worksheets ac-descriptive and fullbase-descriptive. Figure 3-1 in the book is from the former and therefore incorrect. Readers' numbers and visualizations will not match the book and exercises files if they correctly count the IDs and will probably result in some confusion, as it did on my part.

last paragraph

"The standard error for one sample can be found by dividing its standard deviation by its sample size."

I think it should say "... by **the square root of** its sample size."
