In tip #1 "Disable User Accounts Instantly," there is an omission. If a user has a ~/.ssh/authorized_keys file containing a valid key, putting "*" in their password entry will keep them from logging in with a password, but (depending on how sshd is configured) they will still be able to log in to their account via ssh.
