1st sententece of section "Verifying that the database is open"

The 1st sentence of "Verifying that the database is open" states:

"Log on to the server and connect w i t h o u t u s i n g N e t 8 in order to
verify that the database instance is running..."

Up to my knowledge, Net8 or SQL*Net is always involved when requesting a connection,
even if the connection is local, f.i. initiated with "connect internal".

2nd Paragraph

NAMESCTL.NOCONFIRM option in the sqlnet.ora profile file when set to ON, enables to
execute commands like stop & reload without being prompted for user confirmation .
The book explains this to be tbe opposite. This needs to be corrected.
