Introduction

For this first tutorial chapter, I chose a scene that looks complex due to the geometry and effects, but in actuality involves a very simple texture set. In this particular example, shown in Figure 5-1, we have some leeway to create a close approximation of the scene, because although this concept art is beautiful, it lacks close-up hard detail that would dictate what we need to create for the scene.
