CHAPTER 6Work Outputs: The Direct Results of the Work

This chapter moves from the work processes described in Chapter 5 to the direct results of those processes—outputs—and to the need to measure efficiency in productivity and performance. The chapter first provides a selected literature review on the history of the productivity movement, followed by background information on outputs as presented in the Work Performance Framework (WPF). It then presents an inventory of HR services, identifies key performance measures for service efficiency, and looks at the future state of HR outputs and research opportunities. The chapter concludes with a second look at what makes a good worker.
