Chapter 5. Sprint Planning

The purpose of the Sprint Planning meeting is for the Scrum Team to come to agreement on what work they will complete in the next Sprint and how they will complete that work. To plan the Sprint, the team needs to prepare for Sprint Planning. As discussed in Chapter 4, “Preparing for Sprint Planning,” this involves grooming the Product Backlog and gaining an understanding of the velocity of the team. Using the information from Sprint preplanning, the whole Scrum Team takes part in the Sprint Planning meeting (see Figure 5.1).
