Lodging Concept Innovation

Even when an innovation seems right, implementation of that concept must be supported by both internal and external factors. As Michael Newfield observed at the close of Chapter 6, innovation alone does not sustain a concept. With regard to internal factors, for example, a study by coauthor Cathy Enz noted the importance of gaining employee support for an innovation to succeed.1 Her study of two operational innovations in a global hotel chain found that participative strategies were the most strongly correlated with successful innovation.
