15 Smart Grid and Adaptive Dynamic Stochastic Optimization
15.1 Introduction
New flexible power grids encourage the development of advanced technologies and optimization techniques, real measurements tools, communication, and high penetration of renewable energy resources (RERs). This has led to new research activities from system economics and technology development to achieve the needed resilient, secured, and sustainable power systems.
In Figure 15.1, we present the four main levels of the prime sector, which require advanced optimization and control techniques for a smart grid network.
