Chapter 3. Playing and Watching Your Media

I like to think of the Project window as the container for all of your media. The Monitor window is where you can view that media in detail and decide which portions you want to work with. As you’ll see in the next chapter, the Timeline window is your virtual videotape or canvas where you arrange and create your edit.

Within the Monitor window are two monitors: Source and Program (see Figure 3.1). In the Source Monitor, you open source material and pick the portions you want to incorporate into your sequence. In the Program Monitor, you open and view the sequences that you are editing.
