Preface

This book is dedicated to radar engineers and scientists with a pronounced interest in phased array systems. More explicitly, we consider current systems and their precursors as well as systems that are in the proposal/planning/developmental stages. While the first two sets of systems help the reader reconstruct the vector of evolution, the consideration of future systems provides the reader with a philosophy of minimum surprises. Future systems are based on proposals that promote the innovation process and prototypes bridge the gap between proposals and production models.

The focus of the book, however, is in the processing of the signals derived from active array systems at their radio/intermediate frequency, RF/IF. While Chapters ...
