The New User Interface: Ribbons and Then Some

There are no more menus (well, almost) and no more toolbars (well, sort of) in the 2007 Office release programs Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (as well as Access and parts of Outlook). But, you will not miss them for long.

The traditional menu and toolbar organization has been replaced with a more interactive, accessible command layout known as the Ribbon. Each of the programs that use the new interface has a Ribbon. The Ribbon exposes more functionality, so you have easier access to common formatting features and are more likely to find functionality you would not otherwise have known about. Figure 1-9 introduces basic Ribbon organization and terminology.
