So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Sometimes, we think that AI is magic. But underneath all the "magic," there is one essential idea: AI understands the world by turning everything into numbers.
Words, images, audio, product descriptions, customer behavior—everything gets converted into a long list of numbers. This conversion is done by a special AI approach called embedding—an AI agent extracts the meaning of a data element (a.k.a. semantics) and expresses it as an organized list of numbers (the embedding). The numbers represent a position in the space of all meaning and put the meaning of that data element in context with others. We refer to these organized lists of numbers as vectors.
