INTRODUCTION
From the time that human beings began to fly, the need for instruments of various types has been apparent. It was quickly obvious that a pilot needed some indication of the airspeed of the airplane, even though many old-time pilots swore that they could tell the airspeed by the sound of the air flowing past the rigging wires.
