Initial Android versions were mostly consumer-oriented, with limited enterprise features. However, as the platform has grown in popularity, Android devices have entered the workplace and are increasingly used to access corporate email, customer information, and other company data. As a result of this trend, the need for increased platform security and tools that allow effective management of employee devices has steadily grown. While Android’s primary focus remains general-purpose consumer devices, recent versions have introduced numerous enterprise features and Android will likely become even more enterprise-friendly as it develops.
