These edit functions are used after building your rough cut with the basic edit functions.
Tip
Some of these functions benefit from the two-up display when using the associated tool. Select the “Show detailed trimming feedback” option in the Editing pane of Final Cut Pro > Preferences.
Four edit functions appear within the Trim tool: Ripple, Roll, Slip, and Slide. The Trim tool switches to the appropriate edit based on the pointer’s position in the Timeline.
Tip
You can trim the selected edges with keyboard shortcuts: left by one frame (,), left by 10 frames (Shift-,), right by one frame (.), right by 10 frames (Shift-.). To adjust numerically, see the “Dashboard” section in Chapter 1.
