The Two Faces of Folder Actions
Until you learned about droplets in the previous chapter, you had written scripts that run when you tell them to run. You click the Run button in a Script Editor window, or you double-click an applet. Even droplets require you to take an affirmative step, dropping a document on a droplet in the Finder. These techniques and others like them are very useful, because they allow you to reduce a complex and time-consuming series of steps to a single step. But all of them have one thing in common: if you don’t remember to perform the user action that runs your script, your script just sits there. Scripts like this take automation only halfway.
