Although most practitioners of MRC analysis are likely to turn over the necessary work to a computer program, it is quite possible to perform these operations with a hand calculator. The major problems in doing so are the many opportunities for error and the amount of time required, both of which increase rapidly as a function of n and k. Several methods for determining the MRC solution are available, of which the best known is the Doolittle solution.
