Nanomedicine is defined as the application of nanotechnology to human health. The dictionary definition of medicine is ”the science and art concerned with the cure, alleviation and prevention of disease, and with the restoration and preservation of health“. As one of the oldest of human activities accessory to survival, it has indeed made enormous strides during the millennia of human civilization. Its foremost concern is well captured by a phrase in the spirit of Hippocrates, “Primum non nocere”.
