A successful democracy depends on its citizens being able to think critically. The alternative is to have a population that is gullible and easily duped. It may form its opinions from sources that feed information that is false. The false information can come from many sources but nowadays, the media, some large organizations, and, sadly, our educational system are particularly influential.
