Bill Ackman: Though his relationship with Valeant’s Michael Pearson failed to bring about their initial aim of buying Allergan, the two continued to work closely together and Pershing became a significant investor in Valeant. But the relationship between the two was put under considerable strain, especially when serious problems emerged at the drug maker throughout 2015. Ackman joined the Valeant board in spring 2016 as the situation worsened.
