  • Areas that have yet to reach their full potential
  • Some of the latest trends in software development and service provisioning

There are a couple of ways to predict the future. First, you can predict things that you wish would happen. The cartoon series The Jetsons (1962–1963) used that approach to correctly predict many technological marvels, including these:

  • Video calls
  • Robot vacuums
  • Tablet computers
  • Smart watches
  • Drones
  • Flat-screen televisions
  • Space tourism

In that spirit, I'd like to predict the following:

  • Large-scale teleportation
  • Artificial gravity
  • Instant neural training programs
  • The Babel fish from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy
  • World peace (although that seems less likely than the others)
