When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Conclusions
It is reassuring to know that there are practices, professionals and academics who are dedicated to understanding how our buildings work, and are willing to share this information – as is evident from the breadth of case studies and essays in this book. However, the case studies; Innovate UK research programme; and discussions with contributing authors, architects and engineers make clear that there are also a number of emerging themes and areas of concern.
Firstly and most alarmingly there are some practical issues that recur regularly, including:
- the industry’s failure to establish clear protocols for setting up and commissioning building management systems
- the frequent issues with sub-metering
- in the domestic sector, the unfamiliarity ...
