This chapter presents a series of methods that should enable a BIOS engineer to optimize the underlying platform firmware so that it can reduce a platform’s boot speed. However, it should be noted that the intent of this chapter is to illustrate how various, seemingly unrelated product requirements can greatly affect the resulting platform boot performance.
