Chapter 3. Influence of Lean Startup

Introduction

In 2011, Eric Ries wrote a book called The Lean Startup. In the book he explains a process influenced by the scientific method that a startup (defined as an organization dedicated to creating something new under conditions of extreme uncertainty) uses to build new companies and launch new products. On the surface, the startup context does not seem appropriate for IT projects. In reality, with a few small adjustments, ideas from Lean Startup can be very helpful for IT projects. In this chapter I want to discuss three of these ideas that are particularly useful in effective analysis of IT projects:

Customer development

Build-Measure-Learn

Metrics
