So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Selecting Protégés and Diagnosing Their Development Needs
One of the most frequently cited and important benefits of facilitating mentoring is the increased likelihood of success for the protégé. Achievement is one of the key motivators. When you can ensure success through the guidance of a mentor, the enthusiasm and motivation of the protégé are sustained. In addition, because protégés have fewer failure exercises than do people who are not protégés, the organization's cost for grooming talented people to take on new or increased responsibility is reduced. This chapter helps you identify the protégé group, screen and select the protégés, and diagnose and make plans to meet their specific needs.
