Chapter 7. The Headset Profile

Introduction

The concept of a world without wires maps itself quite well onto the ultimate headset as outlined in the Headset Profile. A variety of new scenarios are introduced with this profile, some of which are illustrated in Figure 7-1. With an increasing number of ear pieces being introduced by several large well-known companies, coupled with the time ^[1] needed to bring prices to a more acceptable and affordable level, we will surely see these items as a fashion accessory bundled with your mobile phone handset.

The Bluetooth-enabled headset is capable of establishing a connection with a multimedia capable notebook and a mobile phone, both of which act as our audio gateways.
