IN THIS CHAPTER

Web services is the latest buzzword. Combine the promise of complete application interoperability, open standards, platform independence, universal vendor support, and the muscle of XML, and you’ve got an idea why so many industry vendors and users are excited about Web services.

CORBA addressed interoperability and vendor neutrality to some extent, but it failed to gain complete vendor support the way that Web services have (at least in momentum).
