In preparation for the Peach project, Blender underwent a complete recoding of its particle system, introducing a host of fantastic new features. The particle system is now much more powerful than before, and if you are accustomed to the old particle system or have never used particles before, all the new functionality may seem intimidating at first. In this chapter, you'll learn how to use the new features to create a variety of dynamic particle effects. In Chapter 4, "Hair Essentials: The Long and Short of Strand Particles," you'll pick up where you left off and learn about using static particles for hair, fur, and other effects.
