It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Chapter 2. Buffer Overflows – Gegenmaßnahmen
In diesem Kapitel sollen verschiedene Ansätze besprochen werden, mit deren Hilfe sich die beschriebenen Generationen von Buffer-Overflow-Schwachstellen sowie die sich daraus ergebenden Auswirkungen erfolgreich verhindern bzw. zumindest teilweise unterbinden lassen.

Es gibt verschiedene Ansätze, um Software-Schwachstellen bzw. deren Auswirkungen mehr oder weniger effektiv zu verhindern bzw. zu unterbinden (vgl. [EVANS01]). Ein wenig vielversprechender Ansatz stellt dabei eine Vorgehensweise dar, die heute leider von einer Großzahl von Software-Herstellern praktiziert wird:
