Chapter 10. Deployment

Now that you have completed your implementation, it’s time to learn how to deploy and manage your API in CloudHub. There are eight steps to deploying and managing an API:

  1. Deploy the API as a web service:

    1. Use Runtime Manager to set up API settings.

    2. Define endpoints to make the API accessible online.

  2. Create a proxy application:

    1. Use API Manager to manage API traffic.

    2. Add a layer of security.

  3. Set up security and governance policies:

    1. Control user access to the API.

    2. Implement authentication, authorization, and data-handling steps.

  4. Monitor and analyze API usage:

    1. Use Runtime Manager and other tools to visualize performance.

    2. Generate activity reports and gather analytics.

    3. Track user feedback to understand changing needs.

  5. Troubleshoot issues:

    1. Check logs and diagnose problems to maintain smooth operation.

  6. Optimize performance:

    1. Add more resources to handle increased traffic as user access grows.

  7. Regularly update the API:

    1. Fix bugs and add new features.

    2. Ensure the API remains relevant and meets user expectations.

This chapter is split into three parts. In the first part, you will learn the different deployment options MuleSoft provides. The second part examines how to deploy Mule applications. In the final part, you will learn how to set up application settings and monitor performance. By the end of this chapter, you will understand how to deploy Mule applications, use API Manager to create API proxies, and implement ...
