This is a glossary of the bold terms within this book. Many terms cover the spectrum of open source hardware, including a wealth of manufacturing terminology. Many definitions of the following terms are contextual to open source hardware.

assembly machinery Specialized equipment that assembles items, such as a reflow oven or pick-and-place system.

attribution When using a design with a license containing an attribution clause, you must publish or redistribute the original design or a derivative design, giving credit to the author of the original design.

automated optical inspection (AOI) A machine that optically inspects solder joints and verifies quality.
